Glaciers and ice sheets cover about 10 percent of the Earth's land area. Today, glaciers and ice sheets store about 66% of the world's freshwater. This turns out to be about 7,000,000 cubic miles of water or 2.14% of all water on the Earth. About 85% of that ice is part of the massive ice sheet that covers Antartica. This ice sheet is larger than the United States and Europe combined
